  16. newsletter became one of the capital's most influential
  17. publications; of a heart attack; in Boston. Proud of his
  18. exclusion from the Establishment press, "Izzy" Stone pored over
  19. public documents to come up with exclusives other journalists
  20. had missed. In his later years he taught himself classical
  21. Greek, using the knowledge to land "one last scoop": The Trial
  22. of Socrates, a 1988 book in which Stone portrayed the
  23. philosopher as an elitist whose contempt for average Athenians
  24. compelled them to execute him.
